Delete your account & data

Last updated: July 24, 2026

You can delete your Tallypool account and personal data at any time, directly from the app. This page explains how, exactly what is removed versus retained, and how to request deletion if you can no longer sign in.

Delete your account in the app

  1. Open the Tallypool app and sign in.
  2. Go to Settings from the main menu.
  3. Select Delete account.
  4. Confirm when prompted. This action is permanent and cannot be undone.

Once confirmed, your account and the data described below are deleted from Tallypool's active systems right away.

What is deleted

  • Your account and login credentials (email and salted, hashed password)
  • Your display name and other encrypted profile information
  • Budgets, categories, transactions, and account nicknames you own
  • Transaction descriptions and other encrypted financial details
  • Pending invitations you sent and your stored invite emails
  • Your push notification tokens and notification history

What may be retained

  • Encrypted copies may remain in routine backups for a short time before they are overwritten on Tallypool's normal backup rotation
  • Shared budgets you did not own remain with the members who own them, though your personal profile is removed from them
  • Limited records Tallypool is legally required to keep (for example, to comply with law or resolve disputes), retained only as long as required

Any retained encrypted data is protected with the same encryption described in Tallypool's Privacy Policy and is overwritten as backups rotate.

Can't sign in? Request deletion by email

If you can no longer access the app or your account, you can still request deletion of your account and personal data. Email Tallypool from the address associated with your account at tallypool@constantlearning.org with the subject "Account deletion request," or use Tallypool's contact form. Tallypool may ask you to verify ownership of the account before it proceeds, and Tallypool will confirm once deletion is complete.
